Building a Connected ServiceNow Business, Live at Knowledge18

More than 18,000 ServiceNow customers and partners are converging in Las Vegas from May 7-10 for the Knowledge18 user conference. Many ServiceNow customers are looking to modernize IT service management (ITSM), as well as strengthen security, improve customer satisfaction and support modern applications. Priorities vary across organizations, but one need is common in most ServiceNow environments — integration.

Dell Boomi is a ServiceNow Technology Partner, and we’ll be at Knowledge18 (booth E56) to showcase how our unified platform lets ServiceNow customers connect everything and engage everywhere. Boomi technology zeroes in on challenges we typically hear from ServiceNow customers:

  • “Our IT team is overwhelmed with keeping everything connected”
  • “It’s too difficult to find information with so many duplicate records”
  • “We have too many systems to track all the changes”
  • “We don’t have the resources to deal with data governance”
  • “Why does it take so much time and work to bring together the data we need?”

For example, Boomi delivers the only data management tool (Boomi Master Data Hub) certified by ServiceNow to ensure the data quality between the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and linked applications. That minimizes the risk of errant configuration item (CI) updates to the CMDB that can undermine ITSM effectiveness. It also supports a single source of truth for the data.

As a ServiceNow Technology Partner, that’s just one of many scenarios in which Boomi helps organizations maximize the value of their ServiceNow investments. We make it fast and easy for organizations to integrate their data and applications across hybrid IT landscapes. Other common use cases include:

HCM and onboarding. Exchange data between ServiceNow and human capital management applications such as Workday or SuccessFactors for employee provisioning of laptops and other equipment, as well as with identity management systems like Microsoft Active Directory.

PPM and development. Connect ServiceNow with third-party project portfolio management systems and bug-tracking development platforms like Jira to improve the quality and efficiency of IT services delivery.

ERP and back office. Integrate cloud or on-premise enterprise resource planning systems such as Oracle E-Business Suite, SAP or NetSuite with ServiceNow to ensure consistency across core back-office functions and ITSM.

CRM and customer service. Eliminate barriers between ServiceNow and customer relationship management applications to help ensure that sales teams are properly equipped and that customer trouble tickets are handled quickly and accurately.

Boomi is the technology of choice for many organizations that need to connect ServiceNow with related systems. For instance, a large oil and gas company is using Boomi at the center of a modernization initiative that integrates more than 100 applications, including ServiceNow, Oracle E-Business Suite and SAP Ariba.

The company selected Boomi after evaluations against MuleSoft, Informatica and Oracle integration tools. Boomi provides rapid and highly efficient integration, helping the energy company address a range of issues, including integration between ServiceNow and human resources applications to help onboard new employees.

Another joint Boomi and ServiceNow customer, a large tire company, selected Boomi to replace a combination of manual point-to-point and legacy middleware integration techniques. It now has a scalable infrastructure for integration and data management across more than 30 applications, including ServiceNow, NetSuite, Kronos, SAP Concur, Birst and a Tomax point-of-sale system.

A Unified Multi-Purpose Platform

With more than 7,000 customers, Boomi is the leader in the integration cloud market with its multi-purpose platform that equips organizations to build connected businesses. Boomi’s integration platform as a service (iPaaS) delivers cloud-native, low-code integration at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional methods.

Beyond that, the Boomi Master Data Hub synchronizes data across applications to ensure quality and consistency, while Boomi Flow enables the creation of automated workflows across any application. API Management lets you expose underlying data as APIs to deliver scalable and secure real-time interactions, while Boomi Exchange supplies powerful electronic data interchange (EDI).

As it is, many ServiceNow systems fail to deliver full value because of application fragmentation, duplicate data, and needless complexity in piecing information together. Those pain points are a priority for many Knowledge18 attendees as they take the next steps on the ServiceNow journey.
